Autism NI is delighted to announce that over 300 organisations have now achieved the Impact Award, demonstrating their commitment to inclusion for neurodivergent customers and employees.

The Impact Award provides accredited training and expert support to help organisations build meaningful inclusion. It is a flexible framework that is tailored to the unique needs of each team, increasing accessibility for employees, customers and clients. The 300 Impact Award champions cover a broad representation of sectors, including retail, tourism, hospitality, private sector and public sector services.

Christine Kearney, Director of Development at Autism NI, said “With an increasing recognition of the barriers that exist for autistic and neurodivergent people across services and the workplace, it has never been more important to understand how to be accessible. It is fantastic to see such a range of organisations achieving the Impact Award and prioritising neuroinclusion across their team and services.”

The recently passed Autism Amendment (NI) Act 2022, strengthened the call for clear supports and inclusion for the autism community. However, there are still a large number of organisations who are unsure of their obligations and are therefore missing out on the benefits that meaningful accessibility creates for customers, clients and employees.

By achieving the Impact Award, organisations can grow their customer satisfaction and loyalty, their diverse and talented staff team, and their reputation as a responsible and sustainable organisation.

Christine Kearney added “By achieving the Impact Award, organisations can clearly communicate their commitment to inclusion through using the Impact Award logo, award plaque and promotional materials included. This helps autistic people to clearly recognise organisations that are welcoming and that provide an inclusive service. We want to see even more services demonstrating their commitment to meaningful inclusion and becoming part of the Impact movement.”
