The Belfast Telegraph IT Awards 2024, in partnership with Telefónica Tech, officially launched this week at the Telefónica Tech Belfast offices, marking the start of the fifth annual celebration of IT excellence across Northern Ireland.

The awards aim to recognise the outstanding achievements of individuals and organisations within Northern Ireland’s thriving IT sector. Entries are now open, with submissions closing on Friday 11th October at 10:00am.

The awards will be judged by a panel of impartial experts who bring decades of IT acumen and experience to the judging process. Winners will be announced during an awards ceremony on Friday 15th November 2024, at The MAC in Belfast.

To kick off this year’s awards, Telefónica Tech hosted a launch event that included a morning of networking and a panel discussion. Ellen Dickson, VP of Enterprise Health at Telefónica Tech UK&I, moderated the discussion, which featured insights from past award winners Rob McConnell of Expleo, Stephanie Conville of Codec, and Michael Way of ASOS. The panelists shared their perspectives on the changes of the local IT industry, the challenges it faces, and offered advice for those entering this year’s awards.

Ellen Dickson, VP, Enterprise Health at Telefónica Tech UK&I, said: “Telefónica Tech is pleased to be the title sponsor for the Belfast Telegraph IT Awards once again. These awards are an excellent opportunity to come together and celebrate the achievements of our ever-evolving IT sector here in Northern Ireland. It was wonderful to join together as an industry to launch the awards as we welcomed some of the previous winners from the awards for a panel discussion, discussing the insights and challenges in the sector and their advice to anyone entering this year’s awards. Each year, the quality of entrants seems to get better and better, and I have no doubt that myself and the other judges will have a difficult job in whittling down entries to finalists.”

“This has been an exciting year for Telefónica Tech UK&I, particularly in the health sector, as we support the roll out of ‘Encompass’, the health and social care programme, that is creating a single digital care record for every citizen who receives health and social care in the north. This is just one example of how IT professionals across Northern Ireland are having a huge impact on our society and economy. I look forward to coming together as a sector and celebrating on the awards night.”
