Antrim and Newtownabbey Borough Council’s Theatre at The Mill has been confirmed as the setting for the annual Sustain Exchange Summit on Tuesday October 24.
The well-recognised leadership event, taking place outside Belfast for the first time in its three-year history, will also see Antrim and Newtownabbey Borough Council join Danske Bank, FPM, International Synergies and Belfast City Council as an event partner.
The Sustain Exchange Summit will bring leaders from organisations of all shapes, sizes and sectors together to explore how they can help reverse the climate crisis. A hybrid event model will mean a reduced carbon footprint by allowing for both ‘in-room’ delegates and online attendees.
Speakers will include the globally renowned entrepreneur Sir Tim Smit KBE while in-person speakers will include the climate author and broadcaster Colm O’Regan, sustainability and circular economy leader Jacqueline Gibson, Belfast Climate Commissioner Debbie Caldwell and the international ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) specialist Rachel Post.
The Summit is delivered by the non-profit Management and Leadership Network (MLN).
MLN’s Kevin Kelly said: “The climate crisis is the biggest leadership challenge of our time. However, I believe that hope follows action, and the Sustain Exchange Summit will provide local leaders with insights, inspiration and impetus to act.

Mayor of Antrim and Newtownabbey, Councillor Mark Cooper MBE welcomed the Council’s partnership with the Sustain Exchange Summit and applauded the event’s choice of venue: “The close proximity of Theatre at The Mill to Mossley West Train Station, as well as the use of a hybrid format for the event, shows the kind of ‘action, not just words’ approach to sustainability we try to show in everything we do as a Council.
“Plus, the opportunity to showcase Antrim and Newtownabbey as a leading location to grow a sustainable business makes this an event and partnership I’m proud to see.”
There are a limited number of in-person places available for purchase for the event, which will take place at Theatre at The Mill between 10am–1pm. The live stream will run from 10.30am–12.30pm. Virtual places have been 100% subsidised by the event partners however pre-registration at www.sustain-exchange.com is essential.
