Musgrave MarketPlace, part of the Musgrave Group, Ireland’s leading retail, wholesale and foodservice business, marked milestone achievements last week with the branches in Belfast and Derry~Londonderry celebrating 40 and 30 years in business respectively.

In Belfast, long-term customer of 40 years and a local retailer Michael McGovern, along with foodservice customer Ciaran Copeland from Oh My Cod in Belfast, joined Musgrave NI’s Managing Director Trevor Magill to cut the celebratory cake.

Customers also joined the celebrations and were treated to giveaways, goodie bags and product samples from suppliers including Coosters, Monin, McDonnells, Pukka Tea and Indulgent Drinks.

In the Northwest Pennyburn branch, customers enjoyed samples from suppliers Italicatessen, Pan Euro, Kerry, Pukka Tea and Kepak, demonstrating the extensive foodservice offering available.
Employees from both branches took part in static cycles to raise money for Musgrave MarketPlace’s long-term charity partner Northern Ireland Chest Heart and Stroke, while in Belfast, a Christmas hamper raffle and bake sale were held, and in Pennyburn, a hamper and children’s bicycle raffle generated further fundraising.

Trevor Magill, Managing Director of Musgrave Northern Ireland said: “We are delighted to mark 40 years in business in Belfast and 30 years serving our wholesale customers in Pennyburn. Both branches have undergone extensive developments in recent years and we are delighted to continue offering our customers an exceptional range at incredible value.”

Musgrave opened its first cash and carry branch in Northern Ireland in 1983 at Dargan Crescent, off Duncrue Road in Belfast, and ten years later, a second outlet opened in Pennyburn Industrial Estate in the Northwest. In 2017, a £1.1 million upgrade to the Belfast branch was completed and new Food Emporium unveiled, and in 2019, it opened its doors to the public for the first time, appealing to foodies and families looking to make smart savings.

The Pennyburn branch was also transformed when it unveiled its new Food Emporium in 2019 following a £1 million investment.

With over 10,000 products available, from restaurant-quality fresh and frozen foods to confectionary, cookware, electrical, seasonal gifts, and beers, wines and spirits, the Food Emporiums are designed to offer a first-class customer experience and challenge the perception of the traditional cash and carry business.
