The Pentagon Solutions Data Management Solutions (DMS) and Software Development team are expanding to meet rising demands, with six additional staff joining the team and one placement student from Ulster University.

Our new team members bring a wealth of fresh talent and diverse academic backgrounds. Brandon, Avantika, and Conal, all recent graduates from Ulster University, have joined us with strong foundations in data management and software development. Ruairi, who recently graduated from Manchester Metropolitan University, and Abisha who recently graduated from Queens University with a Masters in Business Analytics, add further expertise and perspective to our team.

In addition to our new graduates, we have welcomed two placement students from Ulster University and one from Belfast Metropolitan College. These students, who joined us in September 2023, are part of our ongoing commitment to supporting University and Higher Education students and providing valuable industry experience. By integrating these new members, we are not only expanding our team but also investing in the future of the industry, fostering innovation, and ensuring that Pentagon Solutions remains at the forefront of technological advancement and client service.

Placement Student Experiences

Here’s how our placement students found their time at Pentagon:

Aidan, currently studying Software Development at Belfast Metropolitan College, recently completed a 17-week placement program with Pentagon:

“Doing a 17-week placement with Pentagon Solutions helped me develop my software engineering skills to a level I could have never imagined. Working within a team of dedicated software engineers and cooperating with other teams within the company showed me the different aspects of Pentagon Solutions.

Being the quality assurance tester and programming a project from the ground up opened my eyes to what industry-standard programming is like. With management and the software engineering team taking the time to help me whenever I needed and peer programming alongside them grew my programming skills immensely. There is an extremely close bond between all staff members at Pentagon and it made me learn just how important and beneficial teamwork is.

I will be forever grateful to the Pentagon Solutions team for allowing me to undertake my placement with them. It is an experience I will never forget, and I couldn’t have asked for a better placement.”

Michael, currently studying Computer Science at Ulster University, has just finished a 1-year placement with Pentagon and is going into his final year:

“Throughout my 1-year placement with Pentagon Solutions, I have gained many new and valuable skills across various aspects of the software development industry. From creating PowerBI dashboards to developing Windows Forms apps and creating Navisworks plugins, these projects have significantly enhanced my software development skills. Working with C# .NET, which was new to me, and deepening my knowledge of SQL has prepared me for a wider range of development opportunities in my final year of university.

Having the opportunity to work with a team of talented software developers has given me a realistic view of everyday work life. The Software Development team has taught me many new skills, both professional and work-related, that I will carry forward into my future endeavours. I would also like to express my gratitude to Glenn for ensuring I got the most out of my placement and for giving me this great opportunity.

Everyone at Pentagon Solutions made me feel welcome from the first day, offering plenty of social opportunities to get to know everyone better. Once again, I would like to thank everyone at Pentagon Solutions for making the past year a great and memorable experience.”

Logan, also going into his final year of Computer Science after completing a 1-year placement at Pentagon, shared his thoughts:

“Over the past year at Pentagon Solutions, I’ve had the opportunity to develop a diverse set of skills in software development. My experience included working on web applications, Windows Forms apps, Outlook add-ins, and a variety of other projects. These tasks have greatly advanced my development expertise. Learning C#, and .NET, which was new to me, and enhancing my SQL skills have prepared me for a broader range of challenges as I aim to complete my degree at Ulster University.

Being immersed in a team of skilled software developers has given me a genuine understanding of the day-to-day realities of the industry. The exposure to various development tasks and the collaborative environment has enriched my technical abilities and professional outlook. I particularly appreciate Glenn’s guidance throughout my placement, which ensured I gained maximum benefit from this experience and prepared me for future opportunities.
