Cliftonville Ladies Football Team: Champions on the Rise

The Cliftonville Ladies Football Team has kicked off this year’s league season spectacularly, securing victories in all eight opening league matches. This perfect start has them poised to replicate their remarkable success in the 2022 NIFL Women’s Premiership where they were crowned champions.

On June 30th, 2024, the team once again demonstrated their resilience and exceptional skill by retaining the NIFL Premiership League Cup, a title they proudly held in 2023. Cliftonville’s 2-0 victory over Lisburn Rangers was powered by goals from Kirsty McGuinness and Vicky Carleton, further solidifying their status as a formidable force in the league.

While the team has celebrated significant successes, they also faced a tough challenge in the County Antrim Challenge Cup. Last season’s champions were narrowly defeated 2-1 by Glentoran Women at the Blanchflower Stadium on Saturday 24th August. Despite a valiant effort and a late goal from Kirsty McGuinness during injury time, Glentoran managed to secure the win, preventing Cliftonville from retaining the trophy. This setback only fuels the team’s determination to reclaim their title and continue their pursuit of excellence.

As the season unfolds, Cliftonville Ladies remain a team to watch, driven by their strong squad, unwavering determination, and collective ambition to achieve even greater heights in the NIFL Women’s Premiership.
