Public Realm Upgrade

Posted By:
GRAHAM

27th Jun 2024

As part of Translink’s Belfast Grand Central Station project, there will be significant investment in public realm improvement works around the new station to enhance pedestrian safety, walking routes, accessibility and cycling. GRAHAM will be installing temporary footpath extensions and enhancements to crossings at the Great Victoria Street/Grosvenor Road/Howard Street junction to cater for the increase in pedestrians at this location.

This will entail:

• Removal of the existing left turn lane from Great Victoria Street onto Grosvenor Road, providing a
widened footway adjacent to the Fitzwilliam Hotel on Great Victoria Street and Grosvenor Road
• An enhanced 6m wide pedestrian crossing on Great Victoria Street to facilitate safer and easier
crossing for the increased number of pedestrians

These works will commence on Monday 1st July and will last for a period of around 12 weeks. It is anticipated that lane and footpath closures will be required to complete this work. Traffic management measures will be implemented on the ground to advise of these closures. Should you have any queries, please contact GVSJunctionWorks@Gravisplanning.com
