Ulster Rugby has announced a star-studded panel of speakers for the inaugural members’ event of the Ulster Rugby Business Club, in association with A&L Goodbody.

Hosted by Andrew Trimble in the A&L Goodbody Lounge at Kingspan Stadium on Friday 13 September, the event is sponsored by electronics manufacturer Nitronica – and will feature David Humphreys, Ashleigh Orchard and Micaela Diver.

The members-only event will kick-off with an informal networking lunch, followed by a panel discussion hosted by former Ulster and Ireland player, and founder of sports technology business Kairos, Andrew Trimble.

Trimble will interview IRFU Performance Director, David Humphreys, no stranger to Kingspan Stadium and one of Ulster Rugby’s most successful players, having captained the province to its first Irish European Cup victory in the 1998/99 season. Humphreys will share insights with members from his role in the top performance job in Irish Rugby.

Fresh from the Ireland Women’s Sevens team’s Olympic debut in Paris, Ulster-born fly-half Ashleigh Orchard will also be stepping-up to the mic. Having enjoyed success in the green jersey at multiple Rugby World Cups and played her part in a Grand Slam-winning Six Nations side, Ashleigh is an Aerospace Engineering graduate who combines her day job in Finance with being a mum to her young daughter.

Micaela Diver is a Partner at corporate law firm A&L Goodbody, principal partner in the Ulster Rugby Business Club, and one of Ulster Rugby’s long-standing sponsors. She will draw upon her experience in sport as a former Netball Northern Ireland player, and reflect on the crossover between skills applied in sport and in the boardroom.

Speaking ahead of the event, Daniel McKeown, Chairman of Nitronica, said:

“Nitronica is proud to co-host this edition of the Ulster Rugby Business Club. As a local company with a global footprint, we have experienced first-hand the important contribution that networking and sharing of best practice within the local business community can make to any business.

“Bringing businesses, advisors and management together allows existing relationships to be strengthened and new opportunities to be explored. Doing so in the context of sporting excellence, meanwhile, provides members with the opportunity to consider both challenges and opportunities with a fresh and different perspective.”

Ulster Rugby Business Development Manager Glenda Willett, added:

“Following the huge success of the Ulster Rugby Business Club launch at the end of last season, we are very much looking forward to hosting our first members’ event at Kingspan Stadium.

“With an impressive panel who collectively boast decades of experience both on the pitch and in a professional setting, we are confident that our guests will come away with many key learnings from top-level sport that can be applied in the workplace.

“Member businesses from across the province will also benefit from the opportunity to come together and grow their professional networks over the course of an enjoyable afternoon in an outstanding venue.”
